Midnight 26th July 2005

Monica didn't know but I had arranged a surprise for her, I was leaving in only a few days and we had enjoyed a special evening together in an Italian restaurant. I took her home in a cab and waited around the corner for my mexican buddies and a mariachi to arrive. At midnight, I serenaded her at her bedroom window. When she came down to thank me, I had prepared a speech proclaiming my love in spanish, Dropped to one knee and asked her to marry me. After a few seconds (although to me it seemed like forever) She cried out "Si Sol Siiiiiiiii!" We cried and hugged and danced in the street in front of her neighbourhood, Her family home serenaded by her favourite mariachi songs. I've never felt more alive or more scared! Posted by Picasa

What a great holiday my trip to Mexico was turning out to be. After spending all my time with Monica I came to realise something very important. That there would never ever be anyone as amazing as her for as long as I live. I knew that my life just wouldn't be the same without her and I adored everything she did, everything she said and everything she stood for. I couldn't take it any longer and I decided to take action Posted by Picasa

When we took my brother's wife to the airport in GDL, afterwards Mony and her family took me to her father's home town of Jocotepec. This was a beautiful and small mexican village with a picturesque church. We ate "birria!" which was a goat soup. It was a great day and it was lovely to see life at a different pace.

This is the church in which Mony and I are getting married. This is the view from the altar up to the heavens. I've never seen anything quite so beautiful and it will really make for a tremendous day!! Posted by Picasa

Under the tree where we spent most of Jake's wedding trying to communicate. She didn't speak English and I didn't speak Spanish. Through the power of tequila we chatted for hours! Posted by Picasa
